What is Race for the Cure®?
Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure® Series is the world’s largest and most successful education and fundraising event for breast cancer ever created.
First organized in 1983, after the promise of Nancy Brinker to her dying sister that she would do everything she could to end breast cancer forever, the Komen Race for the Cure Series has grown from one Race with 800 people in Dallas to a global series of more than 150 Races with over 1 million people participating on four continents.
What is Greece Race for the Cure®?
Greece Race for the Cure® is a running event against breast cancer, organized in Athens by Hellenic Association of Women with Breast Cancer “Alma Zois”, in collaboration with the Organization of Susan G. Komen for the Cure®.
Greece Race for the Cure® takes place on the last weekend of September in Athens.
This year, Greece Race for the Cure® is held for the 11th year, on Sunday, September 29th 2019.
Greece Race for the Cure® is now one of the most popular Races for breast cancer awareness in Europe and is the largest sports event with a social purpose in Greece, bringing together more than 150,000 entries throughout the history of the event .
Everyone can participate
Women, men and children join in the fight against breast cancer once a year, participating in a great celebration. Celebration of strength, hope, power, life.
The routes will be two:
5 km running and
2 km walking.
Starting from Zappeion, runners and walkers with different starting time will participate in 2 different routes in the center of Athens.
Greece Race for the Cure® funds Alma Zois’ programs against breast cancer, aiming to the psychosocial support of breast cancer survivors, breast cancer awareness and, also, to the promotion of prevention and early diagnosis of breast cancer.
